Merkel for Greece: “Traffickers do whatever they want in Aegean Sea”

She stressed that the refugee crisis can only be addressed in cooperation with all European partners

German Chancellor Angela Merkel talked to Bild about the refugee crisis and the actions required to address the problem.

“In the Aegean sea, at sea borders between Greece and Turkey, traffickers do whatever they want,” the German chancellor said.

“This is where we have to enhance Frontex service so as to achieve a better protection of EU borders and help Greece and Turkey to cooperate in a better way. Also, creating large reception centers, hotspots, in Greece and Italy, can help to control the situation,” said Mrs. Merkel.

The German chancellor also stressed that the refugee crisis can only be addressed in cooperation with all European partners.
