Police restore order in the morning

Five containers used for storing supplies were completely burnt, after refugees hosted at the Souda reception centre on the island of Chios rioted in the early morning of Saturday. Police detained 15 migrants and arrested 3, after they started throwing rocks against fire fighters who had been called in to extinguish the blaze. It all started a little after midnight on Saturday, when migrants and refugees began rioting, but police managed to swiftly contain the demonstrations before they spread. The riots were rekindled at around 1.30am, which lead to a fire breaking out in the five containers that stored bottled water and blankets used for the migrants and refugees. The fire brigade arrived on the scene at 3am, but were impeded by rioting migrants and refugees who were hurling rocks against the 7 fire fighters deployed on the scene. The fire was eventually put out at 4am, after a riot police unit managed to restore order.
