Museum of Cycladic Art takes part in international celebration

Night & Day of culture and fun

The Museum of Cycladic Art takes part for the consecutive sixth year in the international celebration for the Museums’ Night & Day, opening its doors to the public with free admission from 10.00 until 24.00.

 

Key activities of this year’s programme:

Guided Tours
DESTE PRIZE 2013
(17:00, 19:00, 21:00, 23:00 | duration 40’)Since 2009 the Museum of Cycladic Art has been in collaboration with the DESTE Foundation in order to present the exhibition of artworks produced by the 6 nominees. This exhibition takes part every two years. This collaboration between the DESTE Foundation and the Museum of Cycladic Art is part of the latter’s “Young Views” program.
The six shortlisted artists for the DESTE Prize 2013 are: Marianna Christofides, Elias Papaeliakis, Michail Pirgelis, Kostas Sahpazis, Maria Theodorakis, Alexandros Tzannis.
On May 18 guided tours for the public will take place.
Permanent Collections
(18:00, 20:00, 22:00 | duration 60’)Cycladic, Ancient Greek and Cypriot Art.
As every year, visitors will have the opportunity to visit the permanent collections of MCA. Short interactive guided tours are planned in all permanent collections. During the morning special guided tours for children and families will take place.

 

Screenings in collaboration with the Athens International Film Festival
Main Screenings
18.00: M. Abramovic: The artist is present by Matthew Akers
21.00: Ai WeiWei: Never sorry by Alison Klayman(priority admissions to be given 60’ prior each screening)
Tribute to short experimental films for artists of the 20th century, such as Marcel Duchamp, Man Ray, Salvador Dali, etc. Curated by the art director of the Festival, Orestis Andreadakis. (non-stop screening)

 

DJ Set En Lefko 87.7 (21:00-24:00)
Radio producers Katerina Kafentzi (Kafka) and Yiorgos Bakalakos (David) together in a 3-hour dj set
