ND on the verge of absolute majority, shows latest poll for Proto Thema

Majority of Greeks says current government has harmed country

According to a survey conducted by polling company “Marc” for newspaper “Proto Thema”, Greece’s major opposition party New Democracy (ND) leads in all main categories against ruling party SYRIZA, which appears to be crumbling. The findings show that the vast majority of Greek citizens believe the government has harmed the country over the 2 years it has remained in power, with 27.8% of the respondents replying they intended to back ND if elections were held, compared to 13.7% who said they would choose SYRIZA. The lead of ND and president Kyriakos Mitsotakis appears to have consolidated, while the major opposition party would have an absolute majority in parliament if elections were to be held soon under the current circumstances.
