Archaeologists are ready to enter the third chamber

The Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities Ephorate continue the archaeological excavations in Ancient Amphipolis.

According to a statement, the soil removal behind the diaphragmatic wall with the Caryatids has reached three meters from the floor.

After the removal of the soil appeared the upper part of the third diaphragmatic wall where a well elaborated marble lintel of Ionic style appeared.

The entrance into the upper west part of the third diaphragmatic wall from the existing opening will be attempted within the day, whereas the team will plan and adopt the necessary measures to protect the workers of the third chamber.
