An opinion poll by the University of Macedonia for SKAI TV recorded that three out of every four Greeks, 75%, believe that the new government is determined to carry out its pre-election pledges while 72% of Greek citizens support the government’s confrontation with the troika of international creditors from the European Commission, European Central Bank and International Monetary fund. The overwhelming support for the government’s positions in the first poll carried out since the national elections on January 25 did not just come from voters of the Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) and Independent Greeks (ANEL) who make up the coalition government, whose voters back their moves at 91.5% and 91% respectively. 43% of those who voted for the conservative New Democracy Party (ND) are also in favor of the government’s positions. Regarding a Grexit, 35.5% of those questioned fear it, 9.5% hope for it and one in three does not believe that it is a possibility.
