Poll: 64% of respondents remain positive over SYRIZA govt

A majority of respondents (64%) in a recent poll appear positive over the new government’s political course, the leftist Efimerida ton Syntakton reported on Saturday. The poll, conducted by the firm Marc, says 31.4% of respondents are negative of the course of the Greek economy.

Asked if they were happy with the progress of negotiations so far with EU partners, 59.6% of those questioned said that they were or probably were satisfied, whereas 37.6% said that they weren’t or probably weren’t happy. 2.8% declined to comment. 75.4% of those polled agreed with the assessment that the four-month extension given to Greece to present its economic plan does not signal an end of loan memorandums, while 14.15 believe that it does and 10.5% declined to answer. 54.4% believe that if the conservative New Democracy party had won the January 25 elections, things would be worse today, 19.4% said things would be better and 22.9% said there would be no difference and 3.3% declined to answer.

Exactly 54.7% said they were satisfied with the choice of Proopis Pavlopoulos as Greek president, 36.3% were unhappy and another 9% declined to answer. The majority, however were positive of the choice of Zoi Konstantopoulou as parliament president with 61.6% stating they were satisfied, 36.3% were against the choice and 8% declined to answer.
