Powder found at Brussels mosque turns out to be flour

Envelopes containing white powder were found in the building

A Brussels mosque located close to the headquarters of the European Commission was evacuated after envelopes containing white powder were found.

A decontamination unit from the Laboratory for Civil Protection was deployed after the discovery of the powder which later turned out to be flour.

A spokesman for the fire service said they had received a phone call from the mosque from a person saying they believed that they had found anthrax powder. A police spokesman later said the substance was flour.
