Russia called for immediate ceasefire in Gaza

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced that “The situation in Gaza, where Israel is waging a ground operation since the 17th of July, has really deteriorated”

Today Russia has called for ceasefire between Israel and Hamas as well as “an immediate coordinated action by the international community,” said the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in its statement.

“The situation in Gaza, where Israel is waging a ground operation since the 17th of July has really deteriorated,” complained the ministry, one day after the bloodiest day of operations in Gaza, during which more than 140 Palestinians and 13 Israeli soldiers were killed.

“This new dangerous cycle of violence clearly shows the need for a ceasefire,” said the ministry. “The extent of the losses and destruction suffered by the population (of Gaza) require immediate coordinated action by the international community,” stressed in the Communication.

According to the ministry, Moscow “reiterated its support for the Egyptian efforts to achieve a ceasefire between Gaza and Israel” and wishes to continue to “work actively with the two warring sides to arrive as soon as possible a de-escalation of the situation and a gradual normalization”.
