Scuffles between refugee children and women and Greek police at Idomeni

Refugees take over railway tracks again

Tensions were high at Idomeni refugee camp, Thursday on the northern borders between Greece and FYROM when Greek police repelled refugees and illegal immigrants who were demanding the borders open up. Refugee children and women passed through the unguarded fencing and managed to block the railway. Others have gathered at the fences in the neutral zone opposite FYROM police and an armoured vehicle, where they are shouting for the borders to open. Nearly 12,000 refugees and illegal immigrants remain trapped at the Idomeni camp, despite the Greek government’s efforts to persuade them to relocate to organised hotspots throughout Greece.
