The draft law on social security reforms may pass with a higher percentage than the government majority, State Minister Nikos Pappas said in an interview with Efimerida ton Syntakton newspaper on Monday.
Mr. Pappas said that the government’s proposal puts an end to the disaster scenarios as cuts are avoided and additional resources are ensured.
He also harshly criticised main opposition New Democracy accusing it of not having submitted new proposals. “It continues to support the proposals clearly stated in the institutions’ proposals that were rejected in the referendum,” he stated.
Asked to comment the statement of Eurogroup president Jeroen Dijsselbloem that the first evaluation can take months, he said: “Some may wish for a new game of delays. But the agreement is being implemented and the fiscal figures are positive.”
