Student’s snapshot goes viral and moves thousands (video)

It looks like an ordinary snapshot, but for a girl who has trouble walking across the campus, a dip in the Aegean was quite an accomplishment

Gabrielle Broere, a senior at the University of Montana, posted a photo from her study abroad program. The photo of the student taking a dip in the Greek waters catapulted young Broere to local fame as over a million people clicked on it.

What makes the image of the young student special is the fact that Gabrielle, a cerebral palsy sufferer, has difficulty moving due to the debilitating lifelong neurological condition. This, however, was not enough to stop her from swimming in the Aegean.

“That’s something I will never forget, ever,” says the girl, who studied abroad during her university’s winter session in Greece. She places the experience on the same level as climbing Machu Picchu.
