Suburban and main train workers continue strikes

Employees demand collective contract, among other things

Workers at the Suburban Railway (TRENOSE) and the main railway are continuing their industrial action with in 3-hour stoppages scheduled for Tuesday, July 3 from 5am till 8am, 1pm till 4pm and 9pm till midnight. The unions have also announced they will be holding a 24-hour strike on Wednesday, July 6, the day tenders are expected to make their binding bids for the buy out of the transport services. On that day (July 6) the whole railway train services will not be operating, including the lines to Thessaloniki, Patra and routes to Athens International airport ‘Elefterios Venizelos’. Among other demands, workers are calling for the signing of a collective contract and the hiring of more staff and the maintenance of rolling stock materials.
