A series of explosions due to a gas leak in the sewage system occur in the city Kaohsiung in southwestern of Taiwan.
The first report speaks of 4 dead people and 180 wounded while dozens of cars overturned.
According to eyewitnesses who spoke to local media the leak occurred shortly after 9 pm (local time) initially in the form of white smoke.
2.7 million people live in the coastal town, mostly Chinese.
