Extreme weather leaves disaster in its path (videos+photos)

Serious damage throughout the whole region

Newsroom September 8 07:03

Extreme weather phenomena have left disaster in their wake, with tornadoes, heavy rains and winds uprooting trees and causing floods throughout the country. A tornado hit the area of Lehena and Vartholomio causing many cars to overturn and many trees to be uprooted. The road network is closed. The tornado left nothing but destruction, when it hit the area from Vartholomio up until Lehena.
Until now the reported damages are huge in houses and roads, as well as arable land.
Residents are trying to save and protect their properties, with the Fire Department’s help. A tornado also hit the Public Power Corporation’s network, causing serious damages, with the technical crew giving a battle to repair the damage.

According to the latest extreme weather bulletin issued by the National Meteorological Services (EMY), heavy rains and storm will continue in to Sunday, with the regions of the Ionian Sea, Epirus, western and central Greece, western and central Macedonia and possibly Thessaly all being affected.
