Vicky Stamati, wife of former minister and convicted Akis Tsohatzopoulos, was set free after three years in prison following the decision of the Appeal Court.
Vicky Stamati was jailed on corruption charges and money laundering.
The court accepted the prosecutor’s proposal to release Vicky Stamati under restriction terms: not allowed to leave country, appearing twice a month at the police station, withdrawal of her passport, compulsory staying at the residential address she stated and a € 50,000 bail.
However, as Mrs. Stamati’s lawyers stated it was very difficult to find the money for the bail and therefore they asked for an extension of two months.
