Visitors travel back to ancient Olympia in virtual reality tour (photos)

Show presented by Foundation of the Hellenic World before 2016 Olympic torch lighting

The Foundation of the Hellenic World presented an impressive virtual reality tour of Ancient Olympia, as part of the ceremony for the lighting of the Olympic torch, Friday, April 20. The show, which took place at the invitation of the President of Hellenic Olympic Academy, Isidoros Kouvelos, at the Academy’s facilities was attended among other by the President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach and the President of the Greek Olympic Committee, Spyros Kapralos. The ‘virtual cinema’ gave visitors the opportunity to travel back in time and experience all the ancient monuments at Olympia, learning about the the ceremonies and the games during ancient times. The media production offers a complete tour in the holy shrine of Olympia in 2nd Century BC. The temple of Zeus, the Gymnasium, the Palastra, the Leonidaio are but of a few of the monuments that come to life though the tour.
