The Russian President, Vladimir Putin, arrived at Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos at 16.45, with about one hour delay.
Greek Minister of Defence Panos Kammenos welcomed the Russian president on behalf of the Greek government.
The meeting between Mr. Putin and President of Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos has concluded, while at this moment the Russian president is meeting with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.
Although the Greek government says that the visit of the Russian President is particularly important and will only have positive results for Greece’s economy, there is a very slim chance that the two countries will sign important agreements.
The Russian president is scheduled to stay at the Saint Panteleimon Monastery on Saturday, May 28 to attend the celebrations for the 1000 year anniversary for Russian presence at Mount Athos.
