Thousands of farmers and members of Communist Party affiliated union PAME gathered on Saturday morning outside the parliament in the centre of Athens to protest for a second day against government’s proposed social security, pension and tax reforms.
Another protest rally is scheduled to take place in the afternoon. But since some groups of farmers have already left, it is unknown whether they will hold another rally later on.
Earlier, the Communist Party affiliated union PAME marched from Omonoia square, where they were gathered, to meet the farmers who are at the Syntagma square to join their voices against government’s plans.
The farmers from Imathia and Promachonas have arrived in Athens and have joined their forces with the rest of the farmers.
Another protest rally is also scheduled to take place in the afternoon saying that they will not leave unless the government withdraws the reforms.
