President of Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos visited Syros for the celebration of St Nicholas where he would be declared honorary citizen of Syros.

“We have to deal with the refugee tragedy with humanism and solidarity and to contribute actively to the end of the war in the Middle East and particularly in Syria,” he said adding that “We must convince our neighbor country Turkey that we seek peaceful coexistence with it and its European perspective depends on it”.

A group of students, though, prevented Mr. Pavlopoulos from entering the town hall.
