After a first detection via helicopters , ships of the Italian Navy were mobilized  in order to participate in the humanitarian mission of Mare Nostrum.

In the  largest three operations , the ship “Ntatilo” rescued and transported ashore 416 immigrants, while the ship “Gkrekale” 227 and “Orion” 221.

The Italian media are reporting that following a short interruption of “Trip of despair” because of the  strong winds, the emigration has began to rise again, reaching levels of recent weeks.
Moreover, the Italian Police Association and the Military continue to complain about the five Italian policemen who were tested positive to TB.

They are members of the police who had worked at the port of Catania, Sicily, helping to unload and identify thousands of immigrants.
