What one hand taketh away, the other hand giveth

Apart from tough austerity measures, the omnibus bill being voted in Greek Parliament on Tuesday has counter-weight measures to help vulnerable groups deal with the humanitarian crisis:

– Creation of a community center for impoverished groups
– Health coverage to vulnerable groups
– Exemptions from municipal duties for the chronically unemployed, large families, single-parent families etc.
– Extension of benefits such as electricity, food and shelter in an effort to deal with the humanitarian crisis.
– Easier process for medical appointments in the health sector.
– Incentives for doctors to serve at isolated regions.
– Creation of a General Hospital at Thera, Santorini.
– Appointment of those in ASEP (public work entry) exams of 1997.
– Creation of social work programs for the unemployed.
– Support to young professionals with social receipts for water-bills.
– Six-month postponment of industrial metallurgy foreclosures (VIOME)
– Personnel resettlement schemes and the ability for disabled (AMEA) workers to get transfer.
– Legal structure for cremation.
– Mobility framework to allow municipal police to return to prisons.
– A resolution for the forfeiture of letters of guarantee for farmers
– Settlement of issues concerning hazardous and unhealthy labor
– Remedial teaching in high schools.
