“The performances of SYRIZA continue”, stated Press Spokesman of New Democracy Anna Asimakopoulou on the occasion of Yannis Milios’ statements on Vima FM radio station.

Specifically, Anna Asimakopoulou stated that  the fiscal policy maker of SYRIZA stated that, if his party ever becomes the governing one, it will not pay (delay or suspend) payment of Greek government bonds, which are held by the ECB and other central banks of the eurozone.

She further explained that this means a default, i.e forfeiture of all securities of the Greek government, suspension of funding for Greek banks from the Eurosystem, degradation of all Greek companies and probably the cutting of all funding for Greece by the EU.

“He did not explain that what he proposes is essentially a Grexit”, stated the ND spokesman.

In an interview, Mr. Milios, stated, inter alia, that for our country, where the debt is 320 billion euros, SYRIZA proposes deleting part of it and repaying the rest through development clauses, like it happened in Germany.

If the proposal is not accepted, he continued, SYRIZA, seeking alternatives, Mr. Milios clarified that the bonds will not be paid.

“We will delay the discussion. It will not be a default, but a delay in payment of installments. I would not call it blackmail. We will make a strong, tough deal, and not blackmail. This tough negotiation  has different characteristics, because the government of the Left will have as a given, to end austerity, and will not be on the same side on the table on how to vote on even more measures”, he said.
