“Until recently, anyone who wanted to become a candidate had to be involved with a party. This is not the case any longer”.
Yannis Moralis stated this, inter alia, in an interview on radio station 98.4
“Citizens have grown tired of parties. There is a depreciation. So I think that a new combination, which exceeds parties and has no professional politicians, like “Piraeus Victor” can be put to the judgment of citizens and gain their vote. Whoever wants to partake in central policy-making or government has the right to do so. Everyone starts from somewhere, they are not born politicians. Those who have a successful track record in their lives, the private sector, in science, the productive classes, can claim the vote of their fellow citizens”, he added.
“Vangelis Marinakis’ candidacy is honorary”
“Vangelis Marinakis is a very successful ship-owner and chairman of Olympiacos. He comes from Piraeus, from a Piraeus family, everyone knows Vangelis Marinakis’ contributions to Piraeus and his participation in the ballot is honorary. At the municipal level, Vangelis Marinakis can be identified as a simple, everyday person. Both want a clean city, a developing Piraeus, to give the city a better overall look. The ballot must express society as a whole. To include shipowners, the unemployed, housewives and ordinary employees”, said Mr. Moralis.
