The new photos taken during the massacre in Odessa, Ukraine, where at least 39 people – mostly pro-Russians – were burned alive on Friday night, are shocking and outrageous.
In a new video released to the public, Ukrainian nationalists are shown to beat and shoot survivors who managed to jump out of the burning building.
The unlucky citizens, many of whom went into the Trade Unions building seeking refuge from the clashes taking place on the streets, jumped out of the burning building only to be killed by nationalist groups who were waiting with guns and bats.
Another shocking video that was released on Sunday shows a man who seems to belong to the security forces of Ukraine aiming his revolver and shooting many times towards the burning building, which is full of people.
Yesterday, thousands of outraged citizens gathered outside the building, which was almost completely destroyed by fire, to pay homage to the dozens of their fellow citizens who lost their lives and to protest against the violence that is tearing the country apart.
At the same time, the 67 detained at the police headquarters in Odessa for the deadly clashes were released, under the pressure of protesters that broke into the police station.
However, the Interior Ministry announcement does not clarify if there are other people in custody .
Yatsenyuk: The murders in Odessa were part of Russia’s plan
Meanwhile, the Ukraine’s acting prime minister Arseny Yatsenyuk blamed police inaction for the high death toll from the blaze and announced that the responsible officers were removed from the force.
He also accused Russia of engineering the classes in Odessa, which were the result of the presence of Russian agents in Ukraine, according to the PM.
“Russia sent people here to create chaos”, Mr. Yatsenyuk said and went on to add that the “Ukrainians should unite and put an end to their differences so as not to give the terrorists backed by Moscow the opportunity to divide our people”.
“Russia’s aim was to repeat in Odessa what is happening in the east of the country” he stressed.
The Ukrainian prime minister announced that after the events of May 2, all senior police officers of the town were removed and replaced as they failed in their task.
“If they had done their job the plans of these terrorist organizations would have been prevented”, he argued.
