The Assistant Secretary-General of UN , Jeffrey Feltman, expressed to the Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu the commitment of the Secretary-General of UN to help “the two leaders and the two peoples” to find a comprehensive solution, according to the joint communiqué of February 11.

Mr. Feltman said that the meeting with Mr. Eroglu was very satisfying and that they discussed the next steps to move forward on a comprehensive settlement of the Cyprus issue. He also expressed the belief of Ban Ki-moon that the joint communiqué has an historical importance and can be a strong base for the progress of negotiations.

He repeated his own commitment to continue working together with Lisa Buttenheim doing everything they can in the UN to support both sides.
