Today, May 6th, is World Food Day, established in 1992 by British feminist Mary Evans Young, who aimed to show the ineffectiveness of diets in their majority, since, according to the American Medical Institute, people who are dieting recover two-thirds of their lost kilos in a year!
World Food Day was established to make people love their body, whatever it is, and to prove that a healthy and balanced diet and exercise are enough to maintain a nearly flawless body.
Aside from people who are obese and who should be dieting for medical reasons, all the rest are victims to the industry of diet with advertisements, books and a thousand other ways which are aimed at convincing people to lose weight as fast as possible.
The western lifestyle provides for fast ‘n’ easy solutions everywhere, and so does the field of nutrition, advising people to follow fast diets, whose only effect is to create a people obsessed with food.
