Main opposition party SYRIZA warned that it intends to resort to justice if Parliament rejects an amendment for preventing debts run up by New Democracy and PASOK parties, during the past, from being written off.

SYRIZA also accused PASOK leader and government VP Evangelos Venizelos of a “sordid stance of political opportunism” for criticizing the former party’s proposed amendment.

The main opposition party stressed that Mr. Venizelos was happy to receive funding for elections as “Elia” -even though this money was meant for PASOK- but refused to pay back PASOK’s debts.

SYRIZA’s announcement reiterated Mr. Venizelos’ “political opportunism” and stated “We consign him to the judgment of the Greek people”.
