Our country is featured in the last place among countries classified as emerging markets such as Indonesia, Mexico and Brazil!

The Economist magazine carried out a study on behalf of the British publishing house Pearson concerning the best educational systems in the world. The study was based on the performance of students in higher education, the percentages of graduates of higher ecucation, two American educational studies and OECD data (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development) arising from pisa tests (usually tests on math problems between students in different countries).

The bad news for Greece is that it came last among other European countries and in global level it is placed along with developing countries such as Indonesia, Mexico and Brazil.

The CEO of the Pearson publishing house, John Fallon, said that the survey results show how closely the economic situation of a country is connected with the educational system.

The country with the best educational system is South Korea followed by Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong. According to the report, the great development of Asian countries in the education sector is due to the cooperation between family, students and educational community as well as the respect these countries have for teachers.

Britain is placed sixth while Finland, which has been number one for many years, has been displaced in fifth place worldwide.

Also, Poland has climbed in tenth place showing a significant development in education after the end of communism in the country!
