Greek Police are seeking to inform citizens of a computer virus spreading through a supposed horror video on Facebook.
According to the notice of Police’s cybercrime department, malicious posts appear with different titles like:
Vin Diesel Has Died While Filming a Deadly Scene From Fast and Furious 7,
You Won’t Believe What This Pregnant Girl Does,
[SCHOCK] Schlimmster Motorrad Unfall Der Welt (Shocking! The worst motorbike accident in the world!),
Girl Killed herself live On Cam Just After Dad Seen Her While Doing This on cam!
The most common suspect titles are:
” Video” from ghost attack (Alleged footage of an “actual” ghost attack).
” Video” that shows the Aswang, a mythical monster from the Philippines (a video featuring the Aswang that is described as “a mythical shape-shifting were-dog/vampire/terrifying thing from the Philippines).
” Video” with mermaids (a video of Mermaids claiming they are real!)
” Video” with a great white shark attacking a ship captain (Video of a huge great white shark tearing apart a sea captain).
As pointed out by Police specialists, the malware disables security settings and opens backdoors for other infected programs.
It also interferes with the browser and performance of the computer itself, changing your homepage and default search engine, appearing unwanted ad banners, pages with subscriber services messages and malicious files for download, with a possibility of spyware and other malicious software (e-mail spam, password copies etc).
