The prince of Bahrain Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa is in danger of being prosecuted for participating in torture, if he travels to the United Kingdom.
In particular, the prince is accused of involvement in torture of prisoners in Bahrain, before the uprising in favor of democracy in the country in 2011.
The royal prosecutor’s office in the UK recently found that the prince cannot be prosecuted because of diplomatic immunity which he has been granted, however, a refugee from Bahrain is calling for a review of the decision as it is erroneous from a legal standpoint.
The refugee claims that he was brutally beaten and sentenced to imprisonment because of his participation in protests in Bahrain in February 2011.
The charges against the prince relate to his involvement in torturing three prisoners in the small Arab monarchy in the Persian Gulf three years ago. The prince, who frequents Great Britain, denied the accusations.
