PASOK: SYRIZA now supports Papandreou’s 2011 government

"Mr. Tsirpas' metamorphosis is akin to political fraud"

Newsroom May 16 01:19

PASOK launched a severe verbal attack against SYRIZA on the occasion of the placement of the latter party’s president during the euro-debate in favour of the legitimate Papandreou government of 2011, which according to the announcement “gave way, in November 2011, to a coalition government under Papademos with Mr. Papandreou’s own initiative, a collaborative initiative launched in June 2011”.

According to PASOK, this is a political metamorphosis of Alexis Tsipras for which, the party notes that it is “synonymous to political fraud” and points out:

-Mr. Tsipras characterized Mr. Papandreou as “Pinochet” on June 10th of 2011.

-Tsipras organized, on October 28th 2011, incidents against government representatives throughout Greece, and against the President in Thessaloniki, on the day following the decision of the European Council for the second support program and the debt haircut.

Meeting between Minister Theodorikakos and Greek-American businessman John Catsimatidis

-Tsipras dismissed Mr. Papandreou’s referendum proposal on October 31st, 2011, as a “cheap, undemocratic trick”.

-Tsipras “enhanced” SYRIZA with MPs and ministers of PASOK who voted against the Papandreou government or critical bills aiming for the latter party to lose its parliamentary majority.

PASOK talks of a “bottomless political audacity” on Alexis Tsipras’ part, if not “the ultimate political absurdity”, concluding that “Greek citizens have not suffered amnesia and are not under any illusions”.
