According to the exit polls, the local elections map is formed with SYRIZA coming first in Attica region and Athens Municipality and candidates of New Democracy prevail in other regions of Greece followed by PASOK’s candidates.
Therefore, it seems that the political scene is balanced during the first hours after the end of voting process and most parties show satisfied.
SYRIZA avoids to pose a political issue and asks the first step to overthrow the governmental schemes to be completed next Sunday.
New Democracy and PASOK also keep a low profile hoping that they will be able to manage the situation and avoid a non- manageable defeat in European elections.
Everyone has a reason to say that all went well:
– SYRIZA managed to gain a significant edge with Rena Dourou in Attica region and hopes to win. It also seems that SYRIZA will gain Athens with Gabriel Sakellaridis upsetting the estimates. It also takes advantage of the fact that ND will not have candidates in the second round. However, SYRIZA does not go so well in other regions where it was expected to receive good results such as in Crete, Central Greece and elsewhere.
– New Democracy has lost Attica region with a significant difference, but it can argue that Aris Spiliotopoulos did not pass to the second round because of Kaklamanis running against him resulting in loosing forces. Also, ND can boast some impressive percentages in some regions and sufficient results in some others.
– PASOK seems to maintain the forces it already had. Giorgos Kaminis passes to the second round, as well as Yannis Sgouros, while Yannis Boutaris confirmed its prevalence in Thessaloniki. PASOK gains good results in other regions, such as in Crete and West Greece.
– KKE gets interesting percentage in major regions, such as in Attica, while Golden Dawn seems to maintain surprisingly its forces, such as Elias Kasidiaris in Athens.
