Speaking at a party’s rally on Friday night at Heraklion, Alexis Tsipras, accused the Government of allowing the German Finance Minister Schaeuble to intervene in the country’s internal affairs.
In response to the strange statements by Mrs Merkel’s closest associate, who claimed that a Greek politician hinted to him that he wishes Greece’s exit from the Eurozone, Tsipras said that this nervous reaction from Berlin can be attributed to the upcoming victory of SYRIZA in the European elections. He also accused the Government for setting up a ‘rigged game’.
Mr. Tsipras said that “the Greece of Cannes, the country where Merkel, Juncker, Schauble and Barroso took all the decisions and appointed governments belongs to the past. From Monday onwards, the Greek people will start – with their vote – to lay the foundation for a new Greece. A Greece with dignity, that will have a voice in Europe. A Greece that won’t be just a pawn, a charity case.”
Referring to Mr. Samaras, the leader of the Opposition said that the Prime Minister should “be ashamed of himself for publicly asking forgiveness from Ms. Merkel for his sins,” for “putting the memorandum above the country’s democratic constitution,” and for “promising people cake, after taking away their bread.”
Referring to Mr. Venizelos he noted that he should “be ashamed of forgetting all his slogans. All his promises to those who believed in his own party,”.
Two days before the elections ηε called all voters by focusing on the case of Cannes: “Do citizens, either left, right , centrist , center-left , or center-right, ask for too much when they say that they want prime ministers and governments of Greece to be elected by the people and not appointed by Merkel, Schauble and Barroso?”. He insisted particularly on this issue , betting also on intraparty reactions caused in PASOK and New Democracy regarding this issue:
Tsipras said that tomorrow’s elections will be a “referendum on life” and “an historic opportunity that Greek people should not let go to waste,”. He urged all voters, regardless of what they had voted last Sunday to join their rage and anger with their vote and vote for SYRIZA in European elections.
He repeated that SYRIZA will support candidates of the Greek Communist Party (KKE), criticizing, though KKE’s leadership for its negative attitude and defended the opening up to Golden Dawn’s voters by saying: they got angry because we dared to reach out to the ordinary voter. To invite him to abandon the path of terror and return to the path of democracy.
He also clarified that: “We therefore call all Greeks, regardless of whether they were rightists , leftists or centrists.”. He also posed his own dilemmas for the elections: “With the mandate of the people or with Berlin’s orders? With Greece or with Merkel? With democracy or with totalitarianism ? With SYRIZA or with memorandum?”
He accused the government of “having decided in secret on new cuts and new sacrifices after the elections following troika’s orders” and insisted particularly on protecting pensions. He warned that “if we do not stop them, from Monday they will fully execute the unfinished crime: They will implement the measures promised to the lenders.
Mr Tsipras also stated his party’s commitments including a new governance model which will completely based on transparency, meritocracy and efficiency, forming alliances across Europe in order to hold an emergency summit in Europe and find the Greek debt solution, direct support of people who are in need with emergency aid programs, protection of public goods, such as water , forests and seashore and safeguarding the productive resources.
