The Greek Parliament on Wednesday announced that the plenum is to consider new requests to strip Parliamentary immunity from Golden Dawn party leader Nikos Michaliakos and another two GD MPs next week, probably on Wednesday. All three are currently remanded in custody and already face trial on other charges.
The announcement said that the Parliamenary Ethics Committee has already decided to recommend that Michaloliakos and the MPs Christos Pappas and Yiannis Lagos be stripped of their immunity from prosecution so that additional charges of possession of explosives and weapons can be brought against them, based on additional evidence from witness statements and items found in their homes, as well as a charge of creating an illegal archive against Pappas.
The management at Korydallos prison where the three are held must now give the required permission so that they can be transferred to Parliament on the day the discussion takes place and exercise their right to address the plenum and to vote.
