Finance Minister Mr. Yannis Stournaras made statements on whether he will stay or leave the Ministry of Finance, during an interview with reporters in Parliament.

It should be noted that the Minister arrived in Parliament in order to sign the decree on the resignation of Mr. Haris Theocharis.

Mr. Stournaras was subsequently asked on whether the government reshuffle will take place on Monday, to which he replied “probably”, while his sole reply to a question on whether he will be leaving his office, was a smile.

“Do you want to leave?”, was the next question by journalists. It was answered by the Finance Minister in a laconic way “I do, but at the same time, I do not.  I have given my best of everything to the Ministry”.  When he was asked on whether he will be holding a key role in the Bank of Greece, he stated: “Yes! But the role will be different”.

This last phrase perhaps confirms suspicions that Mr. Stournaras will be the upcoming “big thing” in the Greek banking sector.
