“The Greek Cypriot side always follows the slogan that no Turkish soldier stays on the island. That all Turkish forces leave”, and they try to spread it to the world. They say “our country is under occupation”. In fact, the Cypriot Democracy is under occupation. We have been chased away from the Republic, after it was jointly established by Turkish and Greek Cypriots. Those in possession of the Republic of Cyprus, and the UN, accepted that”, stated Dervis Eroglu, in a provocative manner.

The Turkish Cypriot leader said that the Turkish side has been trying to reach a deal for 40 years. “We are unfortunately faced with the Greek Cypriot side which resists any agreement”, he said, arguing that “the reason that the intransigence of the Greek Cypriot side has increased is because the Greek Cypriot Republic of Cyprus became a democracy, the international community adopted this, and the EU made her a member of the Union”.

“As for us, we are a country only recognized by Turkey, but it is our great happiness that our motherland recognizes us. The Turkish armed forces provide us with security”, said Dervis Eroglu.
