A first clear and sharp response was hurled by Mr. Nikos Pappas, director of the Political Bureau and alter ego of Alexis Tsipras, president of SYRIZA,through his article in www.left.gr,concerning the criticism exerted to Mr Tsipras.
At the same time, Mr. Pappas sends a general message, on the occasion of what has recently been said about SYRIZA: “Centrist parties and their remnants who wish him to be a centrist himself or to have leftist tendencies in political coalitions, shall be refuted”, he emphasized.
With very carefully worded expressions Mr. Pappas responded to those who consider SYRIZA a transient phenomenon in the political scene, that the party’s vindication was delivered through winning the elections.
At the same time he clarifies the essentials of the party’s path:
Firstly SYRIZA will insist on forging a solid anti-memorandum front and will continue to pursue alliances with other left-wing forces and all other forces resisting the memorandums .
Secondly, SYRIZA will insist firmly in its European path without raising a currency issue.
Thirdly, SYRIZA has always maintained a close relationship with political forces and obviously despite what various sides claim about abandoning its distinctive, deep-rooted political character, this does not apply whatsoever.
Finally, amongst others, Mr. Pappas stated that: “We also need to maintain political initiative. These elements will determine the success of the ongoing effort to expand the influence of the Left party in society which is exploited by the consequences of memorandum policies”.
