Regarding the fragmentation of the Left, SYRIZA’s MP Panagiotis Lafazanis said that “we are all responsible for this, and we have a responsibility to change this situation,” while he estimated that a Left government in Greece may cause big changes at European level.

Introducing the book of Dimitris Belantis “The Left and Power. The “democratic way” to socialism”, Mr. Lafazanis stressed that the political and economic environment is very tough.

He noted, however, that there are promising data showing that if a Left government is elected in Greece, it might cause big changes at European level.

Regarding the situation in Greece, Mr. Lafazanis said that what we experienced currently has little to do with democracy, because, as he explained, “we have armed forces attending every protest, while the democratic right of resistance in the street poses risks to citizens’ health due to the chemicals that armed forces use”.
