After the incidents of electrocution in China from ‘fake’ mobile phone chargers, another tragic incident occurred in Australia.
Cheryl Alntegker mother of two children, lost her life from charging her mobile phone with a non genuine usb charger.
Although the incident of the 28 year old’s death from shock happened last April, the local Australian authorities have just published the cause of death, in an attempt to deter shoppers from obtaining non-genuine products.
The diseased was a native of the Philippines and was found dead with burns on her chest and ears.
According to local authorities, the cost of the charger was just 3.50 euro, while was lacking the necessary insulating material that electronic devices should have.
The case is under investigation, but in the meantime, as mentioned in the Sydney Morning Herald, the Sydney police proceeded to seize electronic products from a store in the area suspected of not meeting the specifications.
As experts point out, consumers should avoid purchasing unauthorized products from electronic stores as they face the risk of electric shock and fire.
