The construction of a mosque on Iera Odos, in the Votanikos section of Athens, may legally use state funds, the Council of State plenary decided in a ruling made public Tuesday.
Construction of the first official mosque in Athens will be funded by 1,100,000 euros; the budget includes a fee of 153,750 euros to the technical consultant.
The temple will cover 1.7 hectares in the Hellenic Navy’s former car repair work site in Votanikos, a western section of Athens, and will cover religious needs of Muslims living in the greater Athens area.
