Two years after his retirement from the presidency of France, SarkozI said that now is the right time to explain to the French people, as the present situation is very serious and he has no intention of humiliating himself.
Passing to counterattack, Sarkozi assured the French citizens that he never betrayed them, that there is an intention to humiliate him and that the French justice s used him in this case “for political purposes” .
In an interview that aired Greek time at 10 pm on Wednesday in radio station Europe 1and television network TF1, Sarkozi denied that he has committed an unlawful act and denounced the “political use of the judicial system.”
“The case against me is meant to hurt my image,” said the former president of France.
“In our country, which is a country of human rights and the law, there are things planned. The French should know them and based on their conscience freely, must judge for what it is, “he added.
“Since the situation is serious enough, i want to tell to the French people were we are today in terms of political exploitation of the judicial system,” said the former tenant of the Elysee and added: “I say to all those who listen or watch that i have never betrayed them and neither did i committed any act against the principles of democracy and rule of law.”
Sarkozi did not exclude the possibility regarding to return to politics in France, however, he said that he is currently in the process of reflection and that he meant to make his decision in late August, early September.
Clearly annoyed by the fact that he remained in custody for questioning for almost 15 hours, the former president of France, said that such a treatment against him was inadmissible and expressed his outrage at the fact that, in the early morning, France time, he was escorted by five policeman to the office of judges where he heard that a judicial inquiry at the expense begins.
He also claimed that he has nothing to hide from justice, that he is not asking for special treatment, and what impressed him most was the fact that while he answered all questions during questioning by the police authorities of Nanterre, the judges decided that an investigation against him should start.
It is worth mentioning that Sarkozi was formally under a criminal investigation on suspicion of undue influence in order to use his influence to block an investigation into the election campaign in 2007, and to bribe a judge. On Tuesday he was put for nearly 15 hours in custody for questioning by the authorities in the city of Nader began and shortly after a judicial investigation started.
The new judicial adventure of Sarkozi threatens to blow up his presidential aspirations, though ardent supporters which consider him to be the ‘Terminator of France’, they believe that he will survive and will emerge victorious.
