The 12th of July the Ministry of Transport appreciates that the services will reopen the road to the famous beach of Myrtos in Kefalonia. However the Minister of Transport Mr. Mihalis Chryssochoidis clarified during his visit to the island on Tuesday , that the Island was tested by the earthquakes enough earlier this year and that “Myrtos will open when the time is right, when it would be safe.

The Minister also assured that at the same time the main road leading to the northern part and Fiskardo will be will be open to traffic as well.

In rregards to the port of Lixouri Mr. Chryssochoidis announced that the first phase of repairing the damage has been completed within the timeframe and the second phase has already begun.
Finally, the Minister of Transport r promised that “we are on top of the issues, every day, in order to repair the damage together and to leave it all behind us, creating a more optimistic Kefalonia, more prosperous,” referring to a “huge” increase in tourism in the order of 50%.
