The president of the left party SYRIZA, Alexis Tsipras, in his speech on Friday evening in Piazza Farnese in Rome’s historic center said that Samaras did well to meet Renzo, but the strategy is wrong while added that “We won a critical battle but the war is still ahead of us.”

He also stated that “The governments of lenders assign to the private sector, public enterprises, public property and public natural resources while violating the supreme criterion of the public interest.”

Among other things, the opposition leader stressed that “SYRIZA assures lenders that they will get their money but not the country”, while in relation to the new European Commission, he said that he hopes “the new European Commission not to politically recycle in Europe Germany’s grand coalition”and” in contrary to the European Commission Barroso, to serve Europe and its citizens and not the neoliberal doctrine and Merkel. ”

Earlier, Tsipras met with the President of the Italian Parliament, Laura Bolntrini at the headquarters of the Italian parliament, while he gave a TV interview in the online edition of the newspaper La Repubblica.

When he was asked about the private dinner of the Greek Prime Minister, Antonis Samaras, with his Italian counterpart, Renzo Mateo, the SYRIZA president replied: “He did well to meet him, I think that the effort to be an alliance, a front between the forces of the southern European , a front-assertion in the European Union regardless of who is in government, is in the right direction. ”

However, he said he believes that this effort in order to have any chances of success, “needs an entirely different strategy than the one used by the Greek government, which seems to be followed by the Italian prime minister.”
