According to BBC report, two gym instructors were arrested for the gang rape of a 6-year-old girl in the premises of the school in Bangalore in India.
The instructors have been identified as Lal Giri and Waseem Pasha and were arrested thanks to information provided to police by the first instructor, the 30-year-old skating instructor. However, he was not involved in the crime, according to the police commissioner MN Reddi.
“During the preliminary investigation, [the two arrested] confessed that they committed the hideous crime in the school,” said Mr Reddi.
The 6-year-old victim identified both men and there was also available material taken from the security cameras showing them keeping the little girl in the gym after her classmates had gone.
The assault occurred on July 2, but the parents of the little girl discovered it several days later, after she complained of stomach ache and was taken to hospital. .
If convicted, the accused could face a jail term of up to 20 years or for life.
However, it seems that the law has failed to act as a deterrent, since according to statistics from the National Crime Records Bureau for 2013 one rape was reported every 21 minutes.
