This is not the first time that the economic problems of Argentina trigger a conflict between the Greek government and the main opposition party SYRIZA.

However this time, the impending bankruptcy of Argentina caused severe political conflicts with government members lashing out at SYRIZA using harsh statements and SYRIZA responding in a similar way.

The government seems to have found a great opportunity to shift the political debate from the multi-bill which is submitted in the Parliament and is under discussion and make SYRIZA accountable for its statements that they will fight the markets, which might be the cause of Greece’s bankruptcy, as government officials argue.

On the one hand the government blames directly SYRIZA for wishing to perform Argentina’s type experiments and defends its choices that they saved Greece from such a situation.

And on the other hand, SYRIZA claims that the government supports the “hawks” and gloats over Argentina’s difficult situation, because they chose to “stand up against the loan sharks,” as SYRIZA stated.
