A draft bill tabled in Parliament late last night establishes a System of Hospital Fees (SAN) for both private and state hospitals. The bill aims to allocate state funds more evenly, based on the services offered. It also proposes a pilot phase of introduction at select hospitals. It will be applied across the board from January 1, 2017, however will have a pilot phase at select hospitals from June 1-December 31 in 2015 for private hospitals and from January 1-December 31 in 2016 for public hospitals.
It also includes regulations obliging hospitals to send administrative and patient files to a central agency – the Hospital Fee System Company (ESAN).
