The government draws a new plan for the settlement of overdue payments towards Tax Office and Funds in order to negotiate with Troika, which up to now reacts to the adjustment of overdue payments.

The economic team wants to give the opportunity to 3,380,358 taxpayers who have overdue payments to Tax Office and 1,243,000 insured who have overdue payments to their Funds, to pay off by adjusting their debts to 24 – 100 installments.

The main innovation of the main plan promoted by the government, according to “TA NEA” newspaper is the special treatment of those taxpayers who by 2010 were consistent with their obligations, but now due to economic crisis cannot pay their taxes.

The plan provides:

1. An installment escalation depending on the amount of the overdue payments and financial situation of the debtor. There will be a possibility for 24-100 installments or more.

2. Special treatment for those who have overdue payments from 2010 onwards.

3. A minimum installment, depending on the amount of total debt, which might be at 50 euros.

4. Debt capitalization until this summer.

5. Deleting increments up to 90%, depending on the number of instalments.

6. Motivations to taxpayers to pay off the debts before they become due.
