The Ministry of Education released a new announcement regarding the determination of the political leadership to implement the law and delete approximately 180,000 “eternal students” from enrolment lists in September.
The ministry assured that it will not step back due to “petty political reasons”.
“We recently clarified in the Parliament, but also through press, that the law regarding the “eternal students” will be applied at the end of the current academic year, ie 8/31/2014, and they will be deleted from enrolment lists. All these students have already been warned since 2007 and since 2011. The necessary time was given to all of them. According to the data gathered, about 180,000 university students did not seize the opportunity given to them and did not complete their studies” says the press release of the ministry.
“In the near future, the law provides that this issue will be managed by the universities”, the announcement states.
