The International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) deputy spokesman William Murray said that no leader’s summit for Greek debt has been planned in Washington for November. Responding to reporter’s questions he said: “It is not true. There is no meeting in November for the Greek debt.” He also stated that he was unaware as to whether the IMF had asked for such a summit.

Murray stated that the framework of the sixth assessment of the Greek economic program is to take place in late September though no date has been set. The IMF has a program with Greece until early 2016 and officials from the fund are focusing on the structure already set regardless of the Troika’s decisions.

The IMF official said that there was a framework of discussion set to “safeguard the sustainability of Greek debt” and reduce the load when necessary in order to bring the debt to 12.4% of the GDP by 2020 as long as Greece sticks to its commitments.
